Étienne Jean-François Cordellier-Delanoüe

A notary’s son from the Brie who had served three years in the ranks before the Revolution and was elected to command a volunteer battalion in 1792, Cordellier-Delanoüe served with the Army of the Ardennes before being transferred west at the end of 1793. He took command of his troops at Brissac two days after Turreau’s order of 17 January 1794 and led one of the twelve columns through the bocage. His column, with that of Crouzat, carried out the killings at Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne at the end of February. Suspended in May 1794 and imprisoned, he was released under an amnesty in July 1795 without reinstatement and without a verdict. He served in subordinate posts thereafter, retired in 1812, and died in Paris in 1845.
