About
A former lawyer’s clerk, François-Nicolas Vincent became active in the Cordeliers Club and joined the Paris Commune after the overthrow of the monarchy in August 1792. In April 1793, War Minister Jean-Baptiste Bouchotte appointed him secretary-general of the ministry, where he helped appoint activists associated with the Cordeliers and the Paris sections. Arrested with General Ronsin in December 1793, Vincent was released in early February. At the Cordeliers meeting of 4 March, he attacked the governing committees as Carrier and Hébert called for insurrection. Arrested again on the night of 13 to 14 March with Hébert, Ronsin, Momoro and others, he was convicted of conspiracy by the Revolutionary Tribunal and executed on 24 March 1794
