About
A lawyer from Bernay and deputy for the Eure, Robert Lindet reported to the Convention on behalf of the Commission of Twenty-One on the accusations against Louis XVI in December 1792. Elected to the Committee of Public Safety on 7 April 1793, he supervised much of its work on subsistence, requisitioning, transport and military supply, in conjunction with the relevant commissions and local authorities. He took no active part in the confrontation of 9 Thermidor. In March 1795 he defended former committee members under accusation. He served as finance minister from July until November 1799, then resumed legal practice.
