About
Born in Besançon, Momoro became a bookseller and printer in Paris, styling himself the “first printer of national liberty” and producing pamphlets and notices for revolutionary clubs and sections. Active in the Cordeliers and the Théâtre-Français section, he supported wider male political participation, controls on grain prices and de-Christianising initiatives. He also helped promote the formula “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity or Death” in 1793. Arrested with Hébert, Ronsin, Vincent and others, he was convicted on charges of conspiracy in a prosecution that treated their overlapping associations as a coordinated plot. He was executed on 24 March 1794.
