Birth of Baron de Besenval
Pierre Victor, baron de Besenval de Brünstatt, the Swiss Guards officer who commanded the troops around Paris at the opening of the Revolution, was born in Solothurn on 14 October 1721, the son of Jean-Victor-Pierre II de Besenval, a Swiss Guards colonel and diplomat, and Katarzyna Bielińska.
