Birth of Guy Joseph de Donnissan
Guy Joseph de Donnissan, a veteran royal officer who administered territory held by royalist insurgents during the civil war in the Vendée, was born in Bordeaux on 7 February 1737. He was the father of Victoire de Donnissan, the future Marquise de La Rochejaquelein and author of one of the best-known memoirs of the Vendée wars.
