Louis-Philippe-Joseph d’Orléans, duc d’Orléans, a wealthy prince who adopted the name Philippe Égalité and served as a deputy during the Revolution, was born in Paris on 13 April 1747. In January 1793 he voted for the execution of his cousin Louis XVI.
