Birth of Abbé Sieyès

Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès, a clergyman and political writer whose 1789 pamphlet What Is the Third Estate? argued that the common people constituted the nation, was born in Fréjus on 3 May 1748. He later helped plan the coup of 9 November 1799, known as 18 Brumaire, which brought Napoleon Bonaparte to power.
